Overview

KIBŌFUND is a personal budgeting app. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.

Data We Collect

No personal data collected

KIBŌFUND runs entirely on your phone. All budget plans, spending records, goals, presets, and achievements are stored locally on your phone. The app never sends your data to us or to any third party — we have no servers.

The only network request KIBŌFUND makes is a check, on launch, for whether a newer version of the app is available. This fetches a small static file and does not send any personal, budget, or device data — see Third-Party Services below.

The only time anything reaches us is if you choose to email us a crash report — see Crash Reports below.

Data Storage

Everything you enter in KIBŌFUND is stored locally on your phone, in the app's own private storage. Your data:

If your phone's own backup is turned on (Google backup on Android, iCloud backup on iPhone), your phone may include KIBŌFUND's data in that backup and restore it when you reinstall the app or move to a new phone. That backup is saved to your own Google or Apple account and is handled under their privacy policies; we can't access it. You can turn it off in your phone's backup settings.

The optional export feature saves a .json backup file wherever you choose. We never receive or access this file.

Third-Party Services

KIBŌFUND does not integrate with any analytics, advertising, or tracking services, and includes no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

The app also checks, on launch, whether a newer version is available by requesting a small static file hosted on GitHub Pages. This request does not include any personal, budget, or app data — it is a standard, read-only HTTP request, the same as loading any web page. We do not receive, log, or store anything from it.

Now and then, after a good moment such as completing a goal, the app may invite you to rate it using the rating dialog built into Google Play or the App Store. Google or Apple shows that dialog, not KIBŌFUND. If you choose to submit a rating or review, it goes directly to them and is handled under their privacy policies. KIBŌFUND never sees it.

Crash Reports

If the app crashes, it saves a short report on your phone and, next time you open it, asks whether you want to send it. Nothing is sent unless you tap Send Report, which opens your own email app with the report filled in so you can read or edit it first.

The report contains the error message, part of the technical error trace, the time of the crash, the app version, and your phone's operating system and version. It contains no budget data. If you send it, we also receive your email address, as with any email. We use reports only to fix the problem, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time.

Permissions

KIBŌFUND doesn't ask you for any permissions. Backups are exported and imported through your phone's share sheet and file picker, which don't need one.

On Android, the app's store listing also shows a few standard system permissions that never ask you for anything: internet access for the update check, playing the Night Ritual music, and vibration for button feedback.

Children's Privacy

KIBŌFUND is intended for users aged 13 and older; users under 18 need a parent's or guardian's permission, as set out in our Terms of Service. The app collects no personal data from anyone, of any age, so a teenager can use it to learn budgeting without sharing anything.

The only way personal information can reach us is a crash report you choose to email, which includes your email address. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before sending one. We do not knowingly receive information from children under 13; if you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
